📺 Customer Display
What the Customer Display Shows
The Customer Display is a board for a TV above the counter that tells waiting customers where their order is, by name. It has two areas: a green Ready column of names that can collect now, and a Preparing area of names still in the kitchen, each with how long it has been cooking or Ready soon.
It shows nothing about what was ordered — no items, no prices, no phone numbers. Customers see Sam B., not Sam Bennett, and a dine-in order shows as Table 12. The short order number sits beside the name for the day two customers share one.
What each area means#
| Area | Who is in it | Shown with |
|---|---|---|
| Ready | Orders marked ready to pick up — by the expo bump on the Kitchen Display, or by Ready to pick up in Live Orders | Order type (Collect, Delivery, Dine-in); the newest arrival is highlighted and a chime plays |
| Preparing | Orders accepted and in the kitchen | Minutes since it started, or Ready soon once every prep station has finished and only the pass is left |
