Pre-orders, Cancellations and Connection
Pre-orders#
A pre-order does not hit the board when it is accepted. It waits on the Scheduled rail and fires at its due time minus the station's target prep time, so the food is ready when it is wanted rather than an hour early. If the due time has already passed when the order is accepted, it fires straight away.
Cancelled orders#
When an order is cancelled or rejected after it reached the kitchen, its tickets stay on the board with a red Cancelled banner until someone bumps them, so nobody keeps cooking. Orders marked completed or out for delivery in Live Orders leave the board on their own.
Order changes#
If an order is changed after it reached the kitchen, the new items appear on the existing ticket with a New badge and the ticket shows Edited on its second line, so the cook knows something was added rather than seeing a second ticket.
Staying connected#
The top bar shows whether the live connection is up. If the device loses its connection the board keeps showing what it last had and refreshes itself as soon as the connection returns; it also refreshes every 30 seconds on its own as a safety net. Like Live Orders, keep the screen awake during service — a locked device suspends the live connection.
