📺 Customer Display

Setting Up the Screen

The display is a dashboard page, so any device with a browser can drive the TV: a small PC or streaming stick behind the screen, or a tablet on a stand.

  1. Sign in on the device as a Customer Display (ROLE_CDS) account. That account is linked to one location and sees nothing but the ready board: no header, no sidebar, no view toggle. (A super admin can also open the page by URL; they keep the header and pick the location there.)
  2. If you signed in as a super admin, open /admin/kitchen/customer-display/. A Customer Display login lands on it directly.
  3. Tap once anywhere on the page so the browser allows the chime, then put the browser in full-screen mode (F11, or the browser's kiosk mode).
  4. Set the device not to sleep. A sleeping device stops updating, and the board would keep showing stale names.

Sound#

A chime plays when a name arrives in Ready, so customers look up. The speaker button in the top-right mutes it for that device.

Layout#

The board is built for a TV: names are large enough to read from the queue, the Ready column takes a third of the width and the Preparing grid the rest. On a narrow screen the two areas stack. There is nothing to tap on the board itself.

Keeping it right#

The board refreshes on its own: it listens for the kitchen's live updates and also re-reads the list every 15 seconds, so a dropped connection never leaves a stale name for long. The clock in the header is the device's own time.
