🍳 Kitchen Display

What the Kitchen Display Is

Kitchen Display puts every accepted order on a screen in the kitchen, split by station, so cooks work from a live board instead of printed tickets. Each cook bumps items as they are plated, the pass sees the whole order come together, and the customer is told the order is ready the moment the pass bumps it. This guide covers the three screens involved, how to set them up, and how the board behaves during service.

It is a Location View feature. Stations, routing rules and tickets all belong to one location, so check the correct location is selected in the header before you start.

How the pieces fit together#

Three screens share one set of data:

ScreenWhat it is for
Kitchen DisplayThe board. One kitchen screen at a time, showing the tickets routed to that station with a running timer on each. This is where the kitchen works during service.
StationsThe screens. One entry per kitchen screen — grill, fry, cold, pass — with a target preparation time and the thresholds at which a ticket turns amber and red. Set this up once.
Routing RulesThe map. Which products or categories go to which station. Anything without a rule goes to the location's default station.

An order becomes a set of tickets, one per station that has something to cook, plus one for the expo station if you have one. A ticket lists only the items that station is responsible for, so the grill never sees the fries.

Where to find it#

  • View: Location View, as a super admin
  • Menu: Operations → Kitchen → Stations, Routing Rules (super admin only). The board itself is not in the menu: open /admin/kitchen/board/ by URL, or sign in as a Kitchen login
  • Full screen: /admin/kitchen/single-board/ for a screen mounted in the kitchen — see The Kitchen Screen
