🏪 Location View
Customers
The Customers area of Location View lists everyone who has ordered from your location and lets you look up an individual customer's profile, saved addresses and order history. From here you can also export customer data, correct a customer's contact details, and block a problem customer.
What is the Customers page?#
Every customer who places an order is stored with their contact details, marketing preferences, delivery addresses and full order history. The Customers page gives you a searchable list of these customers, and each entry opens a Customer Details page with everything the platform knows about that person.
Before you start: the Data Processing Agreement (DPA)#
The Customers section contains personal data (names, phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses). For data-protection reasons, access to it is only switched on once your company has a signed Data Processing Agreement (DPA) on file.
- If your company has not signed a DPA, the Customers entry does not appear in the menu at all, and the customer pages cannot be opened — even by typing the URL directly.
- As soon as the DPA is signed for your company, the menu entry and both customer pages become available to users who hold the right permissions.
Where to find it#
- View: Location View
- Menu: Customers → Customers
Access depends on your user permissions — if a button or page is missing, ask your administrator.
The customer list#
The list shows one row per customer with the following columns:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Customer ID | The customer's unique number. Click it to open the Customer Details page. |
| Phone | The customer's phone number. |
| First Name | The customer's first name. |
| Last Name | The customer's last name. |
| The customer's email address. | |
| SMS | A tick shows whether the customer has opted in to SMS marketing. Read-only — the customer controls this themselves. |
| A tick shows whether the customer has opted in to email marketing. Read-only. | |
| View (eye icon) | Opens the Customer Details page — same as clicking the Customer ID. |
The list is paged; you can show 10, 20 or 30 customers per page using the page-size selector under the table.
Searching and filtering#
The filter bar above the list lets you narrow the results by any combination of:
- Customer Id
- First Name
- Last Name
- Phone
- Address
Fill in one or more fields and press Search. Clear the fields and press Search again to see all customers.
Exporting customers#
The Export button at the top of the page opens the Export Customer window:
- Pick an Order Date range (Start Date → To Date). This is required, and the range may not exceed one year — otherwise you will see “Date range should not exceed 365 days”.
- Under Download As, the export is produced as a CSV file (a spreadsheet-friendly format).
- Press Download. A file named
customer-report.csvis saved to your computer.
The Customer Details page#
Clicking a customer opens their Customer Details page. It has three sections.
Profile#
A summary table with:
- Customer ID — read-only.
- Phone, First Name, Last Name — editable text fields. After changing any of them, press Save. On success you will see “Customer information updated successfully”; if the update fails, “Failed to update customer information”.
- Email — read-only.
- SMS and EMAIL — read-only ticks showing the customer's marketing opt-ins.
The Save button stays greyed out until you have actually changed something.
Blocking a customer#
The Block Customer button sits at the top right of the page. Use it for fraudulent or abusive customers:
- Press Block Customer.
- Confirm the prompt “Are you sure you want to block this customer?” by pressing Block (or Cancel to abort).
- On success you will see “Customer blocked successfully”, and the page then shows the red tag “This customer is blocked” instead of the button.
Addresses#
The Addresses section shows every delivery address the customer has saved, as cards. The customer's main address carries a Default badge. Depending on your user permissions, an Edit button appears on each card, which opens the Edit Address window where the individual address fields can be corrected; a successful save shows “Address saved successfully”.
Order history#
Below the addresses, the page lists all of the customer's orders:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Order ID | The order's number. |
| Store Name | The location the order was placed at. |
| Status | The order's confirmation status. |
| Created At | When the order was placed. |
| Expected By | The requested delivery or collection time. |
| Order Type | Delivery, collection, etc. |
| Payment Type | How the order was paid (for card payments, the payment status is shown in brackets). |
| Payment | The order amount in the order's currency. |
| Device | The device the order was placed from. |
| View (eye icon) | Opens the full order details in a pop-up window. |
Common tasks#
- Find a customer by phone number: Customers → Customers, type the number into Phone, press Search.
- Fix a misspelled name or wrong phone number: open the customer, edit First Name, Last Name or Phone in the profile table, press Save.
- Check what a customer ordered last time: open the customer and scroll to the order history; press the eye icon on an order for the full details.
- Download a marketing list: press Export, choose a date range, press Download. Remember that only customers who opted in (SMS / EMAIL ticks) may be contacted for marketing.
- Stop a problem customer from ordering: open the customer and press Block Customer.
Troubleshooting#
I don't see “Customers” in the menu.
Either your company has not yet signed the Data Processing Agreement (DPA) — the whole section stays hidden until it has — or your account doesn't have permission for this. Contact your administrator or account manager.
The list is empty.
Check whether a search filter is still applied — clear all filter fields and press Search.
The Email field can't be edited.
That is by design: the email address identifies the customer's account, so only Phone, First Name and Last Name can be changed here.
I can't change the SMS / EMAIL ticks.
Marketing opt-ins belong to the customer and are read-only in the dashboard.
The export fails with a date error.
The Order Date range is required and must be shorter than 365 days — split larger periods into several exports.
There is no “Edit” button on the address cards.
Your account doesn't have permission for this — ask your administrator.
