🏪 Location View
Marketing
The Marketing area groups every tool you use to attract and reward customers at a single location: automatic discounts, coupon codes, loyalty programs, promotional links and product recommendations. It is part of the Location View and appears only when the Marketing feature is enabled for your account.
What is Marketing?#
Marketing is a menu group in Location View. Discounts, Coupons and Promotions are three variants of a flexible promotion engine that combines conditions (when the offer applies) with discounts (what the customer gets). Loyalty Programs reward returning customers, and the last two tools improve how your store and products are presented.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Discounts | Promotion-engine offers that are applied automatically when their conditions are met. |
| Coupons | Promotion-engine offers unlocked by a Promotion Code the customer enters. |
| Promotions | Promotion-engine rewards that customers redeem with loyalty points or stamps. |
| Loyalty Programs | Points- or stamps-based programs with earning rules, boosters and an optional tier program. |
| Social Media & Delivery | Links to your review profiles (Google, Tripadvisor, Yelp) and delivery platforms (Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Just Eat, custom). |
| Product Marketing | Product recommendation sections shown to customers, either hand-picked or generated automatically. |
Where to find Marketing#
- View: switch to Location View (the per-store dashboard).
- Menu: open the Marketing group in the sidebar. Its entries are Discounts, Coupons, Promotions, Loyalty Programs, Social Media & Delivery and Product Marketing.
- The whole group requires the Marketing feature on your plan.
- Loyalty Programs additionally require the Loyalty feature.
- Each entry also has its own permission, so different team members can see different parts of the group. If an entry is missing, ask your administrator.
Discounts (promotion engine)#
Discounts, Coupons and Promotions share one builder: a Basic Information section (name, description, image, date range, Priority, active toggle), a Condition section and a Discount section, with a live mobile preview of what the customer sees. What sets a Discount apart is that it is applied automatically — no code, no loyalty balance needed. Its Order Discount Settings let you set Once per customer, Maximum usage count (the total number of times it can be redeemed across all customers) and Visibility (Public or Targeted). Optional condition panels you can switch on: Order Amount (Minimum Purchase amount / Maximum Discount amount), Order Count, Loyalty Threshold, Order Types, Time Period, Payment Methods, Platforms, Menu Items and First Order ("This promotion applies only to the customer's first order"). The reward can be an Order Discount, a Delivery Fee Discount or a Menu Item Discount; for menu item discounts you choose the Item Discount Type: "Apply discount on one of the items" or "Apply discount on all of the items".
Coupons (promotion engine)#
A Coupon is the same builder as a Discount, but it is never applied automatically: the customer must enter its code. The Promo Code Settings panel holds the required Promotion Code, plus Once per customer, Maximum usage count and Visibility — here including Hidden ("Not displayed publicly, but can still be applied at checkout") alongside Public and Targeted. All the same conditions and discount types as Discounts are available.
Promotions (loyalty rewards)#
A Promotion is the loyalty-reward variant of the same builder. The Loyalty Threshold condition is mandatory and cannot be switched off — you set either a Points Threshold ("Point needed to give a promotion to a customer") or a Stamps Threshold. Customers who reach that balance through a Loyalty Program can redeem the reward. Compared with Discounts and Coupons, Promotions have no Order Count condition, and a menu item reward always applies to a single item.
Loyalty Programs#
Feature: Loyalty Define how customers earn points or stamps. Click Add Loyalty Program and set the Name, Description, Reward Type (Points or Stamps), Date range and Automatic Enrollment. Then build the program from:
- Earning Rules — "Earn Points per Order" / "Earn Points per Money Spent" (or the stamps equivalents), with Reward Amount, Minimum Purchase Amount and ratio settings; rules can also target a specific menu, category or product.
- Boosters — a Multiplier (e.g. 2x, 3x) activated by Trigger Conditions such as Time Based or Spending Threshold.
- Tier Program — optional tiers with a Threshold Value and their own Multiplier.
Social Media & Delivery#
Titled "Social Media & Delivery Links" — "Manage your restaurant's online presence and delivery platform links". Two groups of link fields:
- Review Profiles — Google.com, Tripadvisor.com, Yelp.com.
- Ordering Services — Ubereats.com, Deliveroo.com, Justeat.com and Your custom delivery platform.
On save you'll see "Social Media & Delivery Links have been saved successfully".
Product Marketing#
Configure the recommendation sections your ordering site or app shows to customers. Each section type (the available types are provided by the platform and shown on the page) can be activated with a custom title and an Applies to choice of areas. Sections are either hand-picked — select products from your menu and give each a display order ("Display order (1-99). Lower numbers appear first.") — or generated automatically from ordering data. Automatic sections have Settings:
- Min Products — minimum recommended products required before the section is displayed at all.
- Max Products — the maximum number of products to display.
- Min Purchase Count — "Only recommend products that have been purchased at least this many times."
Click SAVE; success shows "Product marketing settings saved successfully".
Common tasks#
Create a 10% discount for first orders#
- Go to Marketing → Discounts and click Add Discount.
- Enter a Name, Description and Date range.
- In Condition, enable the First Order panel.
- In Discount, choose Order Discount, set Discount Amount to 10 and tick Is Percentage.
- Click Submit — you'll see "Your discount saved successfully". It now applies automatically to every customer's first order.
Create a coupon code#
- Go to Coupons → Add Coupon.
- In Promo Code Settings, enter the Promotion Code, tick Once per customer if needed, and set the Maximum usage count and Visibility.
- Add any conditions (e.g. Order Amount with a Minimum Purchase amount), set the discount, and Submit.
Set up a points reward#
- Create a Loyalty Program with Reward Type Points and at least one earning rule.
- Then create a Promotion (Add Promotion) and set the Points Threshold — the points a customer must spend to redeem the reward — plus the discount they receive.
Add your delivery platform links#
- Open Social Media & Delivery.
- Paste your profile URLs into the Review Profiles and Ordering Services fields and save.
Troubleshooting#
The Marketing menu is missing
The Marketing feature is not enabled on your plan, or your account doesn't have permission for this — ask your administrator. Make sure you are in Location View, not the company-wide view.
Loyalty Programs don't appear in the menu
They need the Loyalty feature.
The Submit button warns "Please fix all errors before submitting"
A required field in the form is empty or invalid; the page scrolls to the first error automatically.
A coupon is not being applied automatically
That is by design: Coupons only apply when the customer enters the Promotion Code. Use a Discount for offers that should apply on their own.
An offer stopped working
Check that it is still active, that today's date is inside its date range, and that its Maximum usage count has not been reached (with Once per customer, returning customers can only use it once).
Product Marketing won't save: "No products selected for: …"
An active hand-picked section has no products; select products or deactivate that section.
An automatic recommendation section isn't shown to customers
Fewer products qualify than the section's Min Products setting, or items haven't reached the Min Purchase Count yet.
