Services

This chapter explains what Services are, what they do, and how to add or update them from the dashboard. Services are a Location View feature — they are configured per location.

What is a Service?#

A Service is an order fulfillment method that a branch offers to its customers — for example, Delivery, Collection, or Eat-In. Each Service controls:

  • Which order type the branch will accept (Delivery / Collection / Eat-In / Curb-Side / Catering)
  • When orders can be placed for that type (how far in advance, and how close to closing time)
  • Whether customers can order for now ("ASAP") or must pre-order for later
  • Whether tips can be added at checkout for that order type
  • Delivery preparation time and Eat-In service style, where applicable

A branch typically has one Service per order type it supports. If a branch offers Delivery and Collection, that is two Services. Turning a Service off (or deleting it) removes that order type from the customer-facing ordering flow.

Where to find Services#

View: Location View (make sure the correct location is selected in the header) Menu: Operations → Services (wallet icon) Access depends on your user permissions — if a button or page is missing, ask your administrator. Services are scoped to the currently selected branch.

The Services list#

The list page shows every Service configured for the current branch:

ColumnMeaning
Order TypeDelivery, Collection, Eat-In, Curb-Side, or Catering
Max Order Time (in minutes)Maximum minutes ahead an order can be placed
Minutes before closing timeHow long before closing the branch stops accepting orders
ActiveWhether the Service is currently enabled
ASAPWhether "order for now" is enabled

From the list you can:

  • Add Service — top-right button
  • Edit — click a row to open the form
  • Delete — from the row action (confirmation is required)

Adding a Service#

  1. Go to Operations → Services.
  2. Confirm you have the correct branch selected.
  3. Click ADD SERVICE.
  4. Fill in the form (see Field reference below).
  5. Click Save. You will see "Service Saved Successfully" on success.

The new Service becomes available immediately for that branch, subject to its Active toggle.

Updating a Service#

  1. Go to Operations → Services.
  2. Click the Service row you want to change.
  3. Update the fields you need.
  4. Click Save.

When editing an existing Service, an extra Pre-Ordering Settings section is shown at the bottom of the form (see Pre-Ordering). Changes to Pre-Ordering Settings are saved from that section — save the main Service form first if you have unsaved changes there.

Deleting a Service#

From the Services list, use the delete action on the row. You will be asked "Are you sure want to delete this service?" — confirming removes the Service and takes that order type out of the customer flow for the branch.

Field reference#

Order Type (required)#

The fulfillment method this Service represents:

  • Delivery — the branch delivers to the customer's address. Enables the Preparation time field and is priced with a delivery Service Fee (see Related: Service Fees).
  • Collection — the customer picks up their order from the branch.
  • Eat-In — the customer dines at the branch. Enables the How would you like to serve your order? option.
  • Curb-Side — the customer collects from outside the branch.
  • Catering — bulk / scheduled catering orders.

Each order type can only appear once per branch — you cannot add a second Delivery Service to the same branch.

Max Order Time (in minutes) (required, 0–120)#

The furthest ahead of the branch's closing time an order will still be accepted. Example: with a value of 30, an order arriving 40 minutes before close will be accepted; one arriving 20 minutes before close will not.

Minutes before closing time (required, 0–120)#

How long before the branch closes ordering is cut off. Use this to leave enough time to finish preparing the last orders before staff go home.

How would you like to serve your order? (Eat-In only)#

  • Served at Table — orders are brought to the customer at their table.
  • Pick Up at Counter — customers collect their order from a counter after ordering.

Preparation time (in minutes) (Delivery only, required, 0–120)#

The typical time the kitchen needs to prepare an order before it goes out for delivery. This is used when calculating quoted delivery times shown to customers.

ASAP#

When on, customers can place orders for now (i.e. as soon as possible). When off, this Service is pre-order only — customers must choose a future time slot.

Active#

Master on/off switch for the Service. Turn off to temporarily stop offering this order type without deleting the Service.

Enable Tips#

When on, the tip option is offered at checkout for this order type. Turn off for order types where tipping does not make sense (e.g. Catering with a pre-agreed price).

Enable Current Day Pre-Orders#

When on, customers can pre-order for later the same day through this Service.

Enable Current Day Pre-Orders during Closing Hours (only if pre-ordering is on)#

When on, same-day pre-orders can also be placed while the branch is closed — useful for accepting breakfast pre-orders overnight, for example.

Pre-Ordering#

Pre-Ordering settings define the time slots customers can pick when scheduling an order for later. Pre-Ordering is configured per Service (i.e. per order type per branch). Because the settings are tied to a saved Service, the Pre-Ordering section only appears when you are editing an existing Service — save a new Service first, then reopen it to configure Pre-Ordering. Each Pre-Ordering entry describes a time slot with:

  • Time slot — the window customers can choose from
  • Days in advance — how far ahead of the target date pre-orders are accepted
  • Max (normal) — order cap under normal conditions
  • Max (rush) — order cap during rush periods

Use Add Pre-Ordering to create a new time slot, and the delete action to remove one ("This action cannot be undone").

Services define whether an order type is offered; Service Fees (Finance → Service Fees) define what to charge for it — e.g. a delivery fee or a card-service fee. Service Fees are linked to Services by order type, so a delivery fee applies to the Delivery Service on its branch. If a Service is not working the way you expect (e.g. delivery is available but no delivery fee is being charged), check both pages.

Common tasks#

Stop taking Delivery orders temporarily (e.g. driver unavailable)#

Edit the Delivery Service and turn Active off. Turn it back on when ready.

Cut off Collection earlier before closing#

Edit the Collection Service and raise Minutes before closing time.

Allow customers to pre-order breakfast the night before#

On the relevant Service, turn on Enable Current Day Pre-Orders and Enable Current Day Pre-Orders during Closing Hours, then edit the Service again to add a morning Pre-Ordering time slot.

Add table service for Eat-In#

Edit the Eat-In Service and set How would you like to serve your order? to Served at Table.

Turn off tips for Catering#

Edit the Catering Service and turn Enable Tips off.

Troubleshooting#

"Add Service" button is missing

Your account doesn't have permission for this, or you're not on a branch that supports adding Services. Check with an admin.

Cannot add another Delivery / Collection / etc.

That order type already has a Service on this branch. Edit the existing one instead.

Order type isn't showing on the customer site

The Service exists but Active is off, or the current time is inside the "Minutes before closing time" cutoff.

Customers can't place an ASAP order

ASAP is off, or the Service is currently outside its order window (check Max Order Time and Minutes before closing time).

  • Pre-Ordering section is not visible — you're on the Add form. Save the Service first, then reopen it to configure Pre-Ordering.
