Service Fees

Service Fees let you add a charge to customer orders — a fixed amount or a percentage of the order — separately for each order type. This is a Location View feature: the fees you set here apply only to the location you currently have selected.

What are Service Fees?#

A service fee is an extra charge added to the customer's order at checkout, shown as "Service Fee" on the order. You create at most one service fee per order type (Delivery, Pickup, Catering, Curb-side, Eat-in), and each fee is either:

  • Fixed Price — a set amount in your location's currency, added to every order of that type, or
  • Percentage — a percentage of the order value, with a Minimum Fee and Maximum Fee to cap what is charged.

Service Fees work hand in hand with the Services page: Services define whether an order type is offered at your location (and when); Service Fees define what to charge on top of orders of that type. Setting a fee for an order type you do not offer has no effect.

Where to find Service Fees#

  • View: Location View (make sure the right location is selected first)
  • Menu: Finance → Service Fees
  • Access: depends on your user permissions — if a button or page is missing, ask your administrator.
  • Availability: part of the Finance feature package. If your plan does not include Finance, this menu entry is not shown.

The list#

On desktop the page shows a table of the service fees set up for the selected location (cards on smaller screens). If none exist yet, the page shows "No Service Fee exits."

ColumnWhat it shows
Order TypeDelivery, Pickup, Catering, Curb-side, or Eat-in.
Charge ModeFixed Price or Percentage.
Minimum FeeThe smallest fee that will be charged (used with percentage fees), in your location's currency.
Maximum FeeThe largest fee that will be charged (used with percentage fees), in your location's currency.
Service FeeThe fee itself — an amount for Fixed Price fees, or a percentage for Percentage fees.

Each row also has an Edit (pencil) and a Delete (bin) button, depending on your permissions.

Adding a service fee#

  1. Go to Finance → Service Fees and click ADD SERVICE FEE.
  2. In the Add Service Fee window, choose the Order Type and Charge Mode, then enter the Service Fee value. If you chose Percentage, also enter the Minimum Fee and Maximum Fee.
  3. Click SAVE. On success you will see "Service fee saved successfully". Click CLOSE to dismiss the window.

Updating a service fee#

  1. Click the Edit button on the row you want to change.
  2. In the Edit Service Fee window, adjust the charge mode, fee, and limits. The order type cannot be changed when editing — delete the fee and create a new one if you need it on a different order type.
  3. Click SAVE. The confirmation "Service fee saved successfully" appears.

Deleting a service fee#

  1. Click the Delete button on the row.
  2. Confirm the prompt "Are you sure want to delete this Service Fee?" by clicking Yes (or Cancel to keep it).

Field reference#

Order Type (required)#

The order type the fee applies to: Delivery, Pickup, Catering, Curb-side, or Eat-in. Each order type can have only one service fee, and the choice is locked when editing. If left empty you will see "Please select a Order Type".

Charge Mode (required)#

Fixed Price charges the same amount on every order; Percentage charges a share of the order value. If left empty you will see "Please select a Charge Mode".

Service Fee (required)#

The fee value. With Fixed Price it is entered as an amount in your location's currency; with Percentage it is entered as a percentage (for example 5 for 5%). If left empty you will see "Service Fee is a required value".

Minimum Fee (required for Percentage fees)#

Only shown for Percentage fees. The floor for the calculated fee, in your location's currency. If left empty you will see "Minimum Fee is required".

Maximum Fee (required for Percentage fees)#

Only shown for Percentage fees. The cap for the calculated fee, in your location's currency. If left empty you will see "Maximum Fee is a required value".

Common tasks#

  • Charge a flat fee on every delivery order: add a fee with Order Type Delivery, Charge Mode Fixed Price, and the amount as the Service Fee. (Note: distance-based delivery charges are set up under Delivery Zones; a Delivery service fee is added on top of the order regardless of distance.)
  • Charge 5% on pickup orders, between 0.50 and 2.00: add a fee with Order Type Pickup, Charge Mode Percentage, Service Fee 5, Minimum Fee 0.50, Maximum Fee 2.00.
  • Stop charging a fee: delete the fee for that order type.

Troubleshooting#

The ADD SERVICE FEE button is greyed out.

Every order type already has a fee. Edit the existing fee instead, or delete one to free up its order type.

The fee is not applied at checkout.

Check that the customer's order type matches the fee's order type, and that the order type is actually offered — that is controlled on the Services page. Also confirm you set the fee on the correct location.

I cannot change the order type of a fee.

That is by design when editing. Delete the fee and add a new one for the other order type.

The page or buttons are missing.

The page needs the Finance feature on your plan; otherwise your account doesn't have permission for this — ask your administrator.
