Staying Connected

The till needs a working connection to take orders, receive online ones and report sales. It tells you when that connection goes, and the safe way to carry on depends on which half of the app you are in.

What the till tells you#

MessageMeans
No Internet ConnectionThe device is offline. New orders will not be received until it is back.
Connection LostThe device is online but the link to the order server has dropped.
Connection ErrorA request could not reach the server — the action was not carried out.

What to do#

  1. Check the device's Wi-Fi or mobile data in its own Android settings.
  2. While the till is offline, watch for online orders in the Admin Dashboard under Live Orders — they keep arriving there.
  3. Do not re-run a payment that reported a connection error until you have checked Transactions for it; the money may already have been taken.
  4. When the connection returns, restart the app so it reloads orders and the branch configuration.
  5. If it keeps dropping, restart the device, then report it from Settings → Report a Bug.

Keeping the till reliable#

  • Leave the terminal plugged in and awake during service.
  • Keep the volume up so new-order alerts are heard.
  • Use the terminal for the till and nothing else — other apps compete for the network, the sound and the battery.
  • Sign out only when handing the terminal over; a signed-in till renews its own session.

Troubleshooting#

Orders stopped arriving but the screen looks fine

The real-time connection has dropped without the device losing Wi-Fi. Restart the app and reconcile against the dashboard.

Failed to refresh data

The till could not reload the branch's configuration. Check the connection; sign out and in if it persists.

Session expired. Please login again

The session could not be renewed, often after a long outage. Sign in again.

Payments fail but the network looks healthy

The payment provider may be unreachable rather than your connection. Take cash, and report it from Settings.
