RyftPay (Ryft) takes card payments online and, with Ryft card machines, in store. The platform has a Ryft main account; each restaurant can have a sub-account under it.

  • With a sub-account, the payment is made on the restaurant's sub-account and Ryft moves the platform's fee to the main account.
  • Without one, the payment is made on the main account and the restaurant is paid out from there on its statement.

Setting it up#

  1. In Company View, open Finance → Payment Integration and click + on the Ryft card.
  2. Fill in the fields below and click Save.
  3. In Location View, open Finance → Payment Methods, add or edit the Card payment method, choose this integration and enter the restaurant's Sub Account ID if it has one.

Percentage Card Fee / Fixed Card FeeAdded to the platform fee on online payments, to pass on card costs. Shown to super admins and reseller admins.
Subtract Delivery Fee, Subtract Driver Tip, Subtract Service Fee, Subtract TipWhen on, that whole amount goes to the platform as part of its fee.
Percentage Commission Fee / Commission Fee RuleThe platform's commission and what it is charged on, as for Stripe Connect.
Fixed Application Fee AmountA fixed amount added to the platform fee on every payment.

The platform fee#

For an online payment on a sub-account, the platform fee is the sum of:

  • Percentage Commission Fee × what the Commission Fee Rule covers (Total is the whole amount the customer pays);
  • Percentage Card Fee × the whole amount the customer pays, plus the Fixed Card Fee;
  • each amount whose Subtract … switch is on;
  • the Fixed Application Fee Amount.

A payment on the main account (no sub-account) carries no platform fee: the platform's earnings are settled on the restaurant's statement instead. Card machine payments carry only the in-person card fee.

Refunds#

Refunds are made from Orders, with the refund button on the order. Only the main account can refund on Ryft, so OrderTiger makes the refund for the restaurant.

  • On a sub-account, the whole refund comes out of the restaurant's sub-account, and the platform keeps its fee.
  • On the main account, the refund comes out of the main account and is taken off the restaurant's earnings on its invoice.
  • For a Portal company's orders the refund form asks Is the merchant liable for this refund?. Ryft always takes the refund as described above; the answer decides how it appears on invoices: a merchant-liable refund is taken off the restaurant's earnings, a platform-liable one is not.

Troubleshooting#

ProblemWhat to check
Payments fail straight awayEnvironment must match the keys: sandbox keys with SANDBOX, live keys with PRODUCTION.
No platform fee is takenThe Card payment method needs the restaurant's Sub Account ID; without it the payment is made on the main account and carries no platform fee.
Card machines are not offeredTurn on In-person payments (card machines), and Ryft In-Person on the Ryft account.
